We were lucky enough to have a character from the book 'Tigi' come in and talk about his experience as a Polynesian Panther and how they fought the injustice of the Dawn Raids in the 1970's.
Rm23: Tell us what was most memorable about Tigi's talk. Comment on what it made you think/feel.
Hey Oisin here! I actually know Tigi from a couple protests I was at with my dad. He's a really cool guy and he is AMAZING at the guitar. So, yeah real nice dude.
ReplyDeleteThe most memorable moment when you were talking to us was when you said that you went to jail for trying to help some innocent people, I just thought it was very shocking!
ReplyDeleteHi, its Charli and I never new how scary that dawn raiding could be so scary I learnt a lot.

Hi my name is Felix. Yesterday Tingilao came to our school and I really enjoyed seeing and listening to him. He played three songs and my favourite was called "Girl I never knew". He told us that he was in prison for nine months for protesting, he also walked along the street singing "Get up, stand up" with the rest of the Polynesian panthers.

Hi my name is Luke and I really enjoyed seeing tigilau ness. I learned a lot about the dawn raids. One of the things that I learned is that the dawn raids stopped when the people that got dawn raided did it to the people that would dawn raid them and it ended in the 1976.
ReplyDeleteblog ya later.

ReplyDeleteKia ora, it's Harry and here is my opinion of the show. The talk with Ting was exquisite, awesome and just the best because he was taking about all sorts of cool stuff. Onf of the things he was talking about was that when his friends were dawn raided they dawn raided the politicisation.
ReplyDeleteHi, its Jared and I loved Tigi talking about the dawn raids. I never knew he went to prison for protesting. Thanks for your time.

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI was a bit surprised when Tigi said that he went to jail. But a funny part to me was when he said that they dawn raided the politicians house (they didn't go in) and they drove away. He is also a really good singer. Many thanks

Kia ora,
ReplyDeleteMy name is VJ. When Tigilau Ness came over to our school I was really excited to hear what he had to say. One of the things that took me away was his songs. I really liked the music and how he taught us some of his music. I also enjoyed when he was sharing about his childhood and also about the Dawn Raids and his opinion of it. I learnt alot from Tigilau and I wish he had stayed a little longer.
Blog you later, VJ.
Hi my name is Mariah and when Tigi said he went to prison I was really shocked. He also he said he got expelled from MAGS, I just cant believe one of the Polynesian panthers would go to prison.
ReplyDeleteHi my name is Ronan. When Tigi was sent to prison for protesting, he was in prison for months. But now he is famous in New Zealand for his protests.
ReplyDeleteHi, When Tigi said he went to jail I was shocked. I was more surprised when he said that he got kicked out of his school when he was only 17 years old!
ReplyDeleteHe is a really good singer and he sang a song to a 12 yr old and it was sad!
