  1. Kia ora Room 6. I am New Zealand born and raised but past family generations have come from Ireland (where I get my Irish last name from), England, France and Australia. A real mixed bag. I would most likely say Hi or kia ora to say hello.
Another language I know a small amount of is Spanish. My fiance is Peruvian so he is fluent in Spanish. Spanish hello is Hola (said ola because the H is silent). I want to learn more Spanish so I can speak and understand it fluently - it will take a while I think!

  2. Hi Rm 6!
I was born in New Zealand, But my parents come from Somalia. I connect with Somali culture. We normally say Asalamu alaykum (greeting in Islamic tradition) or we say in Somali language " Sidee tahay " (how are you). To reply say " waa feecanahay (I am good). I would like to learn more Somali language because I am going to Somalia this year and my grandma does not speak English so I have to speak to my own language.

    1. Kia ora Dahran. Thank you for sharing your information. You will have to teach me how to pronounce your sayings when we get back to school. How exciting that you are going to travel to Somalia and see your grandma. I am sure your Somalian language will improve lots when you are over there!

  6. Kia ora Room 6. I was born in New Zealand and so were both of my parents. My surname "Harrison" is English. My Opa was born in the Netherland's and came to New Zealand when he was 21years old. I would like to learn how to speak Dutch so I can talk to him in his language. Goedendag means “good day” in Dutch and is a formal way of saying hello.
